Immerse yourself in one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders and discover the pristine Great Barrier Reef onboard M.Y. Flying Fish.
Townsville, in North Queensland, is the gateway to the central section of the reef, home to pristine coral, spectacular marine life, ancient rainforests, secluded island coves, and world-class fishing.
Day One
Depart mid-morning from Townsville to Palm Island, taking approximately 4.5 hours. Whilst underway, your chef will prepare a lunch served on the aft deck for you to enjoy the scenic journey along the coastline and scattered islands.
Arrive at Palm Island for a guided afternoon snorkel among picturesque coral and marine life. After this short one-hour cruise you will arrive at Hazard Bay, Orpheus Island for sunset drinks onboard.
Day Two
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast onboard and an optional snorkel around one of the many spectacular sites around the Palm Island group. A short two-hour trip sees us arrive at Australia’s largest island National Park. Heritage-listed, Hinchinbrook Island is world-renowned for mysterious wetlands, scenery and pristine beaches. The afternoon will be spent fishing in the mangrove-lined estuaries for seasonal barramundi or around Lucinda Jetty for pelagic fish. We will anchor in Zoe Bay overnight.
Day Three
The Flying Cutlass tender will transfer you to a remote beach where you’ll commence a 20-minute guided hike on Hinchinbrook Island to Zoe Falls, a picturesque set of waterfalls with an amazing natural infinity pool with views overlooking the bay. After returning to the vessel for breakfast we depart for Dunk Island, another of Australia’s National Park islands with spectacular views, flora, and fauna. This leg is approximately three hours and lunch will be enjoyed during the journey before arriving for a guided afternoon snorkel at Muggy Muggy Beach and a chance to see abundant tropical reef fish, turtles, and dugongs. After all this, there will be sunset drinks in the bay on the helicopter deck.
Day Four
Enjoy an opportunity to hike the summit of Dunk Island’s Mount Kootaloo for sunrise and breakfast on board before departure. On the hike, there’s the chance to see Ulysses butterflies, native birds, turtles, and dugongs from the viewpoint.
A four-hour journey south will bring us to Pelorus Island for afternoon canapés and drinks on the beach with stunning snorkelling available directly from the sand among plentiful soft and hard corals and tropical reef fish. For your final evening, the crew will put together a fun-themed dinner to celebrate your memorable charter under a star-speckled sky.
